The art of the manicure dates as far back as Ancient Egypt<\/a>. It’s always been a part of human culture to accentuate the nails – and becoming a nail technician means becoming a part of this long and storied history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, if you’re interested in this role, you’ll need to become well-versed in the different types of manicures that exist out there in the world. The more types of manicures you’re familiar with, the more you can provide to your potential customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Basic Manicure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This is among the most popular manicure options<\/a> for obvious reasons. It’s simple, it’s affordable, and it’s always chic. It’s simple to do and it isn’t too time intensive, usually taking only about half an hour to get done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A basic manicure is also one of the healthiest options for one’s nails, as there are really no negative side effects. It’s also easy to remove, so there’s only a slim chance of damaging or breaking nails when it does become time for removal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s a solid choice for anyone looking to get their hands pampered with little fuss, but it won’t last too long either. Generally, by the time a week or so is up, some chipping likely will have occurred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gel Manicure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This is a very “in” manicure<\/a> to get right now. It’s basically a more advanced version of the basic manicure, that uses UV light to harden a liquid polish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This UV hardening helps the manicure to last much longer without issue – usually up to a month!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the flip side of this long-lasting nature is that you’ll likely need to head back to the salon to get it removed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Acrylic Mani<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This might conjure images of crazy-long, in-your-face French manis, but there are plenty of tasteful acrylics out there. An acrylic mani is essentially a combination of both liquid and powder polish that gets applied over both one’s natural nails and false tips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This kind of mani tends to last a bit longer, and you can usually show them off between two or three weeks before an issue or chip arises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the perfect mani for those who want longer nails but have never been able to actually grow out their nails long enough on their own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
